I purchased a MBP from one of the guys on here seems like it was the 1st revision
Specs are:
2GHZ
2Gigs of ram
100GIG drive
I run a small production company, and so my mac is used almost every day.
I am considering buying a refurbished 2.4Ghz this one:
The Apple Store (U.S.) - Refurbished MacBook Pro 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
But does it make sense? Because A refurbished Mac Pro is $2400
and is there a huge jump in performance?

being able to add hard drives and RAM is great. I have already upgraded to 6 GB and an extra 750 GB drive. If you dont need to bring it around, the Mac Pro is really awesome to have! Good luck.

Does your mac feel slow? What kind of activities do you do that make it feel too slow to use?
A Mac Pro is nice as you can run a lot more ram than a mbp, and use more, larger, faster hard drives. However, it might not be necessary depending on your needs.

The MBP you linked to is a very good deal. And getting a refurb is a good idea. This MBP will be noticeably faster than what you have now.
But what you need to ask yourself is what you need. If you need a portable Mac this MBP will be a good choice. But if you need expandability and/or raw performance the MP will be be better suited. Only you know the answer to these questions.
Depending on what you do the MP will be a whole lot faster, especially well multithreaded apps. But you won't notice much in stuff like Mail, web, Office.

I have the same MBP you already have. Is yours not suiting your needs? Mine is working just fine, and I expect it to take care of me for quite a while to come.
With that said, the refurb you link to is a great machine that would outperform the one you have by quite a bit. It is nicely priced too. But to piggyback on what Simon has pointed out, comparing the capabilities of a portable to those of a desktop only makes sense if you don't care whether it's portable or not. I need my MBP to be portable, so I would not replace it with a Mac Pro, even if the prices were the same.
