very nice. i was planning on doing something similar with my iBook once it's out of warrantee. I was sure that I was going to dissolve the paint but I was thinking of sanding the outside surface so that it has more of a foggy look. That should also help to get rid of all my scratches that I've accumulated. Also, how much did those transluscent panels end up costing you? Also, have you considered possibly painting the inside of those panels so that the whole thing is blue? That would be really cool. either way nice job. I want one.

The top and bottom are painted on the inside. If you mean the palmrest, I did consider making that blue too, but I thought it might be too much.
As for the cost, the palmrest cost about 60 bucks and the only other costs were for the paints and so forth, so not that much all together.

That is the coolest thing ever. Good Job. I want to get some of that lightbulb paint for some other experiments.

I agree with the others; your project rates a well-deserved "Whoa".
But how about going one further? Why not go retail!!? Just think:
The State-Of-The-Art iBook.
Now Available in (A Variety Of Colors).
Using Your iBook In Style.
Only, from [iCruise].
I KNOW I'd buy one!!

first i'd like to say great job on the mod, it looks really great. Just one question for you, where did you find the paint that you used ? I've looked at some stores around here, and was unable to find any.
Thanks,

Man, that is cool! But I would never have the balls to do that to mine. Haha. I would be too afraid I would break it.

that's pretty cool. for me, it looks a little too much like the transparent swiss army knives that are on the market, but cool none the less.
would you be able to make the blue parts non-transparent?
here's an example of the swiss army knives....hopefully it works.
