Everytime I open a folder such as my Applications folder, the icons will position themselves in a certain view (different for each folder) and will not let me keep my settings if i change them. For example if i set the window to icons sorted by name, and close the folder, the next time i open it, the settings will not be preserved at all. Any ideas?

Look in the wiew menu were you find show wiew options or press command + J. There is an option that let you choose between "global" or "this window" only option. Try this and see if it solves the problem.

I have had this problem for ages. I reset my window view prefs and as soon as I reboot or log out, they go back to being wrong. Then I have to command-J but it never seems to stick. I've submitted feedback to Apple about this a few times. Do anyone know a permanent fix for this??
