So i have about 1200 bucks to spend on a new monitor. I had a 23" Cinema display and LOVED it, but my pops loved it more. So he jacked it when i was away at school and gave me 1250 bucks for it.

So, i have no problem buying a new 23" cinema display but i was wondering if there was any other monitors out there that were the same price but BETTER! I am really into photography and tuning cars in photoshop. So i am looking for a monitor with an amazing picture. Something big, like 30" would be nice, but it would have to have the same picture as a Cinema display or better.

Can you guys think of anything???

There's a Sony 30" a friend of mine just bought. I've not yet seen it but am told it has the same specs as the Apple monitor only with a Sony logo on it. The price point is approximately $1,200. Try using The Google and you may find it.

this probably belongs in the Hardware forum, but i'm going to assume you put it here because you are going to do graphic design with it.

the Dell 30" is similarly priced at $1200 like the Sony that art_director mentioned above. i believe it uses the same Samsung components as the Apple display. i have two of the Dell 20" screens and like them quite a bit. of course, if i had the cash and the desk space, i might have gotten just one 30" instead.

I was wrong. Checked with my friend and he got the Dell Demonhood mentioned, not a Sony.

So no, you don't suck at the Global Internets.

Ah, OK, don't worry. A friend of mine got a 26 inches NEC SpectraView 2690 WUXi which is superb but freaking expensive…

BTW I indeed suck @ the internet, -this from another topic-

Money no object and I needed colour correction being the best I'd go for the NEC or Eizo ColorEdge CG211 or an old school Barco CRT.

Otherwise a phat 30" display or 2

My preference is two 23in Cinema Displays side by side, but I'm one of the few who still prefer dual displays.

If your iMac is Intel with the radeon x1600, then you'll be fine with dual displays. For the best symmetry, I would recommend pairing your 20in iMac with another 20in Cinema Display. You'll just need to put the Cinema Display on a stack of books or something to get the height the same as the iMac.
