It'll definitely be an interesting series. I think if the Flames aren't careful, it can end very early for them. However, if they bully the Sharks, speedy, and not so gritty, forwards, it might be a little more interesting. It might also come down to goaltending, Kipper has been amazing these playoffs but, then again, so has Nabokov.

Oh, and I would expect Marleau to be stuck to Iginla every single shift. You definitely don't want to let that guy get going.

being a canadian i am supoposed to be cheering for calgary now - but i'd rather see tampa or san jose win the cup as neither has before....and either of those would be the first of the "new" expansion teams to win.

Wow. I never knew this was here. I guess I just don't hang around the lounge often enough.

I'm a diehard Wings fan, so I'm a bit disappointed this year. Now I'm pulling for a Sharks-Lightning final. That should be some good, fast-paced, awesome hockey.

I'm also from DC, so I remember Ron Wilson's tenure here pretty well. The man is an absolutely incredible coach. I remember one game against Toronto where practically all of the Caps' best forwards were out, so Wilson switched to a 3-defenseman system with Gonchar and Klee playing conservative center. They tied 3-3, but it felt like a win.

I also like Nabokov, so I guess I'm rooting for the Sharks now.

I think that this is one of the draws of the NFL - even the 1-15 Panthers can make it to the SuperBowl within the next two years.
Nope. Biggest draw to the NFL: Gambling. The reason football is the #1 sport in the USA. Parity in the league = more action on the betting line = more money changing hands.

Oh, who to cheer for today? Both teams have a few ex-Avs.
San Jose has Ricci (who I disliked even as an Av) and the Sheriff, Scott Parker, who (I think) took the Stanley Cup fishing in a canoe.
Calgary has Yeller and Rhino, both quailty ex-Avs. Prolly wouldn't have won the cup '01 without Yelle winning the face offs he did and his clutch scoring.

So who to cheer on today?

Avs fan.

Sharks just tied it up 2-2 going into the 3rd period. MAN THIS IS A GREAT GAME!!! Kiprusoff has been almost unstoppable with his 31 saves.

I think Kiprusoff is an alien. On his home planet males compete for females by stopping pucks.

Great first game, why wasn't Kiprusoff that good when he played for us?

It's like a San Jose Reunion series. It's going to be tough no matter who the winner is. I think it's going 6 or 7 games for sure. I hope the Philly/Tampa series is good as well.

Damn! Got home too late to see the game. I spent six months in Calgary, and one of my friends is sending me a Flames flag to put on my car. I'm sure it will be the only one in Houston!

Our team's veterans don't pick fights with 20-year-olds "just because." Your team's conduct was just despicable.

Kipper was amazing at the beginning. Flames really carried the play for the first 10 minutes of the game and it didn't look like the Sharks ever recovered.

I don't know what to think right now since home ice really hasn't mattered. But if the Flames come out and play flat like they did in games 3 and 4 I think that San Jose will win this series. If they play strong and weather the barrage that San Jose is sure to throw at them, they will definitely come out ahead.

Should be an interesting game 6.

Any chance Game 6 can be played in San Jose?

This reminds me of 1994 when the Rockets and Spurs went to game 6 before a home team won!

LOL. That would be incredible if the whole series goes down that way... I'm amazed at how poorly the Sharks have played at home in this series, it doesn't make much sense.
