I am actually going to commit suicide one day. When I'm very old and those I loved dearest have long gone I'm going to climb Everest and disappear up there. I wouldn't mind doing it now but I've got a couple of things I want to live for.

I think it's when you die of asphyxiation. You either lock yourself in a garage with the engine turned, on or some other method. I thought it would not have been as messy as locating a wild elephant, and dropping it on myself. Besides, it'd hurt the elephant. Although, it'd be a neat thing to see.

Best method: death by waiting. Killed everyone so far. Seems to be working.

I take the revolver method back...
I would like to materialize in to the force or by Vaders Pinch of Death. How cool would that be?
- but each one isn't really suicide. I guess it is all about intent. like those people who try to die by police because they don't have the balls to pull the trigger themselves.
so the revolver remains.

egh, you'd be surprised how ineffective that is. sure, you lose part of your head, but the majority of those attempts just end up as veggies. Then not only do your poor families hafta deal with you being selfish enough to do it in the first place but they also get the double-whammy of havin' to make the decision to pull the plug on your sorry ass too...

You are talking about CO poisoning (carbon monoxide) which will cause asphyxiation. CO2 suicide is the same as N suicide and O3 suicide and other substances that just aren't O2. CO prevents O2 from entering your bloodstream despite its presence in the air.

My brother inlaw hung himself and that worked out pretty well for him. Why don't all of you morons who think this topic is funny try your favorite method and then report back and let us know how things turn out.

Sorry about your brother in-law. I promise - no cracks about your sister.
Don't be angry and don't try to understand those who have taken their own life. Some of us have been a step away from death and death caused by oneself.

My method of choice would be to go skydiving and not pull the chute. I figure if you're gonna suicide (which under most circumstances just pisses me off), why not make your death experience one hell of a final life experience.

Thanks. It was actually my wife's brother and he was flyin' high on crack and heroin when he killed himself. Most guys who date my sister bail pretty quickly
The cops and coroner think he was just screwing around and made a mistake. However, seeing how his parents were affected, having worked in health care in the past, seeing those who attempted and did not succeed, and working now with teenagers who think that they are invincible, I just don't think favorite methods of suicide is really anything to joke about.

Is this one of those threads that ends up with someone posting on Friday or Saturday night with, "I'm drunk and I'm going to kill myself tonight" thread?
Because it's kind of a stupid thread.
What IS the point of determining what the best method of suicide is -- unless you're offing yourself?
Get some mental help -- seriously. Even posting the thread is questionable -- normal people don't care about what the best suicide method is.

I am far from being an expert about death, but drawing from my extensive
movie-watching waste of life experiences, I shall endeavor to answer your
question with as much seriousness as I can.
I would hazard to guess that CO2 would be reversable if one caught you,
whereas death by CO would be irriversable very early on in the process.
Once the CO attaches itself inside your lungs, then the process is not
reversable, and you die no matter what the paramedics do.
If you are serious about committing suicide then I would submit the following
questions to help you think about this.
1. Who would you leave behind to mourn your death?
I mention this first, because, believe it or not you have a profound impact on
other's lives, and in ending yours prematurely, you would be in effect ending
any positive actions no matter how small you could have on their lives.
2. What about perfect strangers?
Do you have such little regard for those who are in as much or more pain as
you are, that you would end your pain, without seeking a solution to it?
Did you realize that by just interacting with others, be them strangers that
you could affect their lives in even a small way that they would then in turn
do the same for another?
3. What about us?
Without your posts in here alone, I would not be able to respond to your
request for thoughts, and in fact you are offering me something to do for you,
which enriches my life experience. What you have just done by asking this
question has offered others the chance to give you a gift of humor, or even
a possible real solution to your question.
If I have not yet convinced you to continue on, let me offer the last bit of advice.
"Grant me the serenity
To accept the things I can,
Courage to change the things I can
And wisdom, to know the difference"
Ok, now on to something completely different.
If this doesn't help you, and you are determined to kill yourself, do it with panash!
Death by farting.

to set the record straight:
CO, carbon monoxide is the gas that poisons you. It acts by displacing oxygen from the Fe-hemes in your red blood cells. The binding affinity of CO for Fe-hemes is about 600 times larger than for oxygen. Thus even a low concentration of CO in the air can be deadly. Once oxygen has been displaced that heme can no longer transport oxygen to and from the vital organs and tissues in your body, like your brain. displace enough O2 and you will die.
Cyanide salts (potassium, sodium), which are typically solids, or cyanide gas act by the same mode of action as does CO.
In technical mumbo jumbo CN and CO are better ligands for Fe than O2.
lesson ends here.

Death by CO2 would be really boring, then again so would the faster death by CO.
Anyway I once tried to dye of hypothermia, we had a pool in our back yard, ice was really thick all I managed to do was screw up my back when I jumped in..

1 - Find an insulin dependant diabetic
2 - Beg, borrow or steal their insulin; preferably the fast acting stuff
3 - Find a suitable environment, away from those that you would hurt
4 - Inject as much of the stuff as you can
5 - If you get to this stage then all has NOT gone to plan

to combine ghost_flash and mike one's comments on carbon monoxide (good description btw) if you are close enough to a hospital and still have some O2 getting to your brain organs, etc. then a blood transfusion could save your life.
Now for stories: So I have responded (by ambulance) to 3 attempted suicides. 1 slit wrist (wrong way), and two overdoses, but none of them died. Well I guess thats why nobody suggested ODing. I know personally a woman who went into a large mall and jumped from 5 floors up into the center of the mall and went crashing through the glass floor. that skydiving post reminded me of that one. I do know some other people that have killed themselves but no good stories.

Hyperbaric oxygen chambers could also save a person's life in the case of CO poisoning.

i once tried to kill myself my overdosing on my anti-depressants. needless to say, i got too scared maybe five minutes afterwards and cried to mommy, who was sleeping. gack, that charcoal crap tastes horrible.
anyway, i think if i had to choose one way to die it would be skydiving without a parachute.
oh, and thanks for filling me in on how to slit your wrists properly.

CO2 does more than just displace oxygen. It forms carbonic acid (H2CO3) in your blood and results in acidosis. You can kill yourself by either CO or CO2 poisoning. CO would probably be more comfortable, though.

And her upper skull was missing, but her brain was splattered everywhere. My buddy is now in a mental hospital, the house is being foreclosed on because he hasn't made the payments and the contents will probably be auctioned off.
He asked me to go get his iBook and keep it for him, but his son won't let me back near the house to get it.
He's very angry with his father for getting involved with someone who needed medication. She had stopped taking it and I guess the voices told her to do it. At least he wasn't at home or he would be dead too.
