So I had the opportunity to purchase a Ti 1 gig via a developers account yesterday and I jumped (12/9)...

The apple store gave me a est. 3-5 days for ship time

when I called Apple to confirm my order was going through the guy said 4 weeks but says he doesn't know any change from that!

so...

Has any one purchased one in the last week and have you received it yet?

I got the 1 gig top of the line with 1 gig of ram and a super drive...

really need to know but I'm probably just working myself into a frenzy for nothing.

I got the exact same thing using the Developer Discount. However, I ordered on 11/25 and it said 2-3 weeks. I called up Apple last Friday and they said expected ship date was 12/30.

I am bummed that I won't recieve it in time for anual family vacation (road trip to Florida - very long ride; could have really used the Powerbook and iPod), but for the discount I recieved I am willing to wait.

I placed an order for one at the end of the day November 29 (a week ago last friday).
I'm a student developer, and in Canada, but apparently I'm somewhere around 60th in line waiting for mine. And the guy I talked to said he has no ETA for when he's getting more from Apple

I really want it before January, it won't be a good start to the school term if I'm endlessly playing with my new machine.

well I'm in the same boat (maybe litteraly)

after a few talks with Apple I found out that it's going to be built in Taiwan and the wait time is a month... I buy stuff rom the orient all the time and there is always a lag when things go by boat... hopefully it flys but I doubt it...

4 weeks is a long time and I may be with out a machine for most of that time!

really sucks

well I guess I'll have to borrow a machine form a friend when I have too

I'm no developer but I did read on MacFixIt forum that the delay could be due to RAM shortage, especially for those who've ordered the double RAM for $40.

i ordered my 1ghtz/1gigRAM/SD using the ADC student discount on the 12/5...the apple store said 7-10 days, but when i called the next day to confirm that they recieved my faxed student id and sched to get the "under review" process over with asap(which took less than 24 hrs), they said to expect it around the 30th...!

any hope that they are overestimating to avoid angry customers if it doesnt arrive before xmas?...i dont see why we cant go pick them up at a local apple store....

I ordered on 11/18 using an ADC Student Discount
and I'm still awaiting shipment. I emailed Apple and
they told me it should arrive right after the new year.

I ordered on 11/25 and it said 2-3 weeks.

Called Apple on Wednesday (12/11) and they said it should ship no later then 12/17. Which is exactly 3 weeks after I ordered.

On 12/6 I called the ADC store number and they said it would not ship before 12/30.

I want to believe the Apple store but something tells me the ADC store is more accurate.

Anyone else try calling both numbers and get two different answers?

I ordered on 11/24, but apart from that I have had exactly the same experience, down to the days I called. Still, some people who ordered developer style got their machines already, so I am holding out hope for the 17th.

Aw yeah.

I just got a call, my tibook has arrived, I just need to wire them the money and they'll ship it to me.
(Recap: I ordered on 11/29 with student developer discount, and I'm in Canada so it works a bit differently here. Apple ships it to a company here, and they ship it to me)
Unfortunately, they don't take credit card payment from student developers
So I have to wire them money or something

I want it now!!!

But, I wasn't expecting to get it until January so I guess I should just chill

something is finally happening...

I check my order status today only to find it had changed from ļæ½partially shippedļæ½ to ļæ½under reviewļæ½.... well I guess I miscalculated the tax and my apple loan amount was short by $30 bucks... so I took care of that called apple and I'm back to "partaily shipped".... what that means I have now idea...

but I was told by Apple that my place in the Queue hasn't been changed and it looks like they are trying to ship it out by the end of the week!!!!

wish I would have got the next day shipping...

so I may have it by next Friday!

Ordered on 11/18 (student developer), and it's still in "Being Assembled" stage.

Man, they really penalize you for getting a deal on the machine, don't they?

It came to almost exactly five thousand canadian dollars. However, this is with a gigabyte of ram, and includes 15% sales tax and shipping.

I'm too lazy to do the math right now as to what the base price of the unit was, as I forget.. let alone convert is to $us

I'll probably come back after lunch and have more details.

OK, I found the quote.

1GHz processor, 512MB, 60gig hdd, Superdrive is supposed to cost
$3846.96 with the discount.
This is about equivalent to
$2,476.00 US. So, pretty close but still a bit extra. Hopefully the price you quoted was for a book with 512M ram? If not we get pretty hosed..

Although, the Apple Store price is
$4,799.00 for the same laptop, so I guess I got a decent discount. Though I think I might've got screwed on the ram upgrade.

YEAH!

I ordered on 11/18, and it finally shipped from Taiwan on 12/18, earrrrrly in the morning EST. FedEx made delivery today, here in NJ. A day and a half later, on the other side of the planet.

I'm currently posting from the legendary PC-killer now. Absolute perfection.

I have a stupid question.

I'm an ADC Select memeber and I can't, for the life of me, figure out where to enter in my developer discount for a TiSD.

A little help, please?

Thanks.

Has anyone seen your order go from Reviewed to Assembled and then go BACK to reviewed?

I'd like to have my new PB by 2003...

Thoughts lead onto purposes...

Yes, it means there is a problem.

Call the Apple Store and ask them what the problem is. (More than likely they need authorization to bill to your checking account/debit card/credit card.)

Hate to break it to you, but probably not. If it's in Indianapolis, then it (and a whole lot of other PowerBooks) are now being reviewed by customs.

I got mine this morning. It's supposed to be in yesterday. I placed order on 12/5 via ADC program. Once I get home, I'll play with it. Hopefully, I won't have any issue.

Ok.. The first impression is ok except that I have one stuck pixel.

Also, I found out that if I shutdown from OS X 10.2.3 while I have terminal window opened, os x crashed. It's very weird.

How does this work ?

Did you get your discount after renewal of your membership ?

The ADC-FAQ says hardware discounts are only for premier-members..

http://developer.apple.com/students/sthardware.html

I ordered my pb the day I purchased the student membership. In fact, that's why I purchased the membership; what with the freely available developer tools there wasn't much reason for me to join except for the discount. I guess I'll see over the course of the year whether it will be worth joining again next year.
