For those who don't know,
Aleph One is the open-source project which was spawned when Bungie released Marathon 2's source code a few years ago. It now supports Mac OS X and OpenGL rendering, among other things.
The latest addition to Aleph One is one of the most significant since the beginning of the project: working internet play. Aleph One did support netgames over TCP/IP in earlier builds, but if you tried you know how slow and unusable it was.
Now it works. Beautifully.
Just grab the
latest build (be sure to get a Mac OS X build from May 30th or later), and off you are. By the way, if you have a microphone, be sure to try the netmic. It now works, even over the internet.
To find players, try the "Aleph One" AIM chatroom (in iChat, File >Go To Chat...).
