I am having trouble getting KDE to startup and run. I installed X11 off my installation disk and also the SDK files. When I try to statrup KDE I get the following error message. What am I ding wrong????

You ran into a known bug. It has to do with Freetype and QT3. The problem can be solved, however, if you are willing to do some tinkering at the command line.

First thing, are you running Panther? if you are running Jaguar (10.2) you shouldn't have this problem.

Now the fix. There are several ways to do this, but this is the easiest way.

In a terminal type fink selfupdate and let it update from CVS.

When thats done reinstall qt3. This should fix it.
