problem with ibook SE 366mhz with jaguar 10.2.4

when I go to the file menu to print or save in textedit, preview and safari I get the coloured spinning disk.

I have to eventually force quit the applications, but those functions will not work until I restart the mac; logging out does not work. Then it works ok for a while.

Repairing permissions works temporarily too but the problem is recurring.

OS X is ok and runs sweet on this mac otherwise.

Anyone....?

thanks

Have you tried cleaning out the various cache files? You can use something like Panther Cache Cleaner, Cocktail or Onyx.

I get this issue occasionally when my printer isn't available.
Geekspiff - generating spiffdiddlee software since before you began paying attention.

problem fixed now !

I hope this helps other people too

open System preferences and the Sharing panel. Click Printer sharing box so it is either turned on or off (it doesnt matter which). This resets the printer spooler on the printer and will make the printing process work properly again.

This resolved my issue completely. My printer is a canon s200 but I also had this problem with an epson printer - both usb.
