Does turning down the brightness increase the life of the display any longer? I know it helps (drastically) for battery life...

I know the display life is long, but I plan on keeping my iBook for a while.

It does to an extent. But you can also prolong its life through Energy Saver. I usually set mine to 20 min after idling if I step out of the room.

And yes, you wouldn't believe how much it cuts down on battery usage!
