He's back! I'm glad he's back in the NFC North, in a division that I care absolutely nothing about. I feel bad for Vikings fans.

I feel the same way about Brett Favre going to the Jets last year that I did about Jordan returning to the Wizards.

He is not back, he never left!
The man can say he's retired all he wants, but he still comes back every season. That's not retiring. It's thinking of retiring and then deciding not to. He's retired when he does not play a regular season and is not affiliated with a team.

I hope he has an injury free season and plays monumentally bad. Brett has become a serious media whore.

I'm so glad the Packers stuck with Aaron Rodgers.

Can't wait for the Pack to beat the Viqueens this year

I agree, in the long run it will certainly be a better move to stick with Rodgers. I admit I would have loved to have Farvre for ever in the Packers, but I'm very confident Rodgers will do very big things with the Packers in the future.

Pre-season is a torture.. it's like being really hungry looking through a cookbook with pictures

Oh and the drama will be wonderful this season when the Packers play against the Vikings! There is no football except the NFL
I could take Sean Connery in a fight... I could definitely take him.

I am just as sick of hearing about Brett Favre as I was hearing about Michael Jordan back in the day. They should have just stayed retired the first time around.

He said "first time around". If Jordan hadn't come back the first time, it would have been a huge mistake (obviously).

I know. I don't think anyone would argue that the first "un-retirement" was anything but a success, and a fantastic encore of sorts.

But it's the Wizards stint that left a bad taste in everyone's mouths. Plus, I just like posting pictures of him in that jersey. It's just weird.

Last night on Milwaukee TV it was reported that some players on the Vikings think that Jackson gives the team a better chance to win. It will be interesting to see how long of a leash Favre is given.

If his blocking is any indication, Favre is fitting right in.

Don't feel bad for us. We still have the best runningback in the league, one of the top defenses and solid WR's. We just brought in a game manager. He won't try to be Brett Favre 1997, he knows that's not him.

After the reported "schism" in the locker room Favre had to throw that block, or make a similar move, to show he was one of them.

I look forward to next week's MNF game where he gets to play Green Bay.
Which by then the Bears will be 3-1

Well, will he finish out the season now that he has the all-time consecutive games record? I think he'll quit and become a full-time pitchman for Sears. Or not.

That game was a mess. Nice deja vu ending for Farve though.

The classic Brett Favre throwing-across-his-body interception to erase the Vikings' chance to win the game in regulation. Perfect symmetry to a largely error-free season.

Shouldn't have come to that, the Vikings were the better team. Peterson cost them the game.

PS. Manning's gonna tear the Saints apart.

Why would he go anywhere? He's got one of the 2 top RBs in the backfield, 1 stud receiver w/ 2 other good WRs to throw to, and a great tight end. He can't find a better scenario than that.

And why would the Vikes get rid of him? Tavaris Jackson is his backup, and that's a heckuva step down from Farve who has been great all season.

I'm not a big Farve fan, but unless he retires on his own, I don't see why the Vikes would be eager to show him the door.

I don't think the Vikes would want him to go.

Brett has gotten weird. He might just retire on a whim, just to come back in August..

Fixed that for you. Vikings were at the 40 with 19 seconds remaining. Favre rolls right on next play with an open field to the 30 yard line in front of him. Instead of running, he makes a stupid throw across the middle of the field and gets intercepted.

Vikings could have and should have won it in regulation were it not for Favre's interception.

You got it wrong.

The Vikes DID NOT WIN (at that moment) because of Favre, but they LOST (overall) because of Peterson.
In that situation, playing aggressive was the right thing to do. And mistakes happen when you need to be aggressive.

Big difference.

BS.

That was NOT the time to "play aggressive". You are tied with 19 seconds left and are within the outer limits of your kicker's range (about 50 yards). You do NOT have to force a pass at that time. You have an open field ahead of you that could get you 10 yards if you simply continue running to the sideline. Rule #1 of quarterbacks: DO NOT THROW ACROSS THE FIELD WHEN YOU ARE RUNNING TO THE SIDES. This is taught to high school quarterbacks year 1.

The Vikes lost a good opportunity to WIN THE GAME with a field goal in regulation. They didn't even get to TRY a field goal because of Favre's stupid mental mistake.

Favre doesn't throw that interception and the Vikes have a GREAT chance to win in regulation (it was noted by the commentors that their kicker was easily making 52 yarders in warm-ups).

And you are wrong about Peterson losing the game (overall). They only reason they were still in that game with a chance to win at the end was BECAUSE of Peterson (THREE TOUCHDOWNS). That's 21 out of their 28 points.

Favre completed about 50% of his passes and threw ONE touchdown, two interceptions, and was charged with a fumble which was lost (at the 10 yard line no less - costing them at least 3 points). Peterson ran for 122 yards and had THREE touchdowns and was charged with two fumbles, neither of which he lost.

Perhaps Favre didn't "lose" the game, but he unequivocally cost the Vikings an excellent chance to WIN the game in regulation by making a bone-headed throw across the field that was intercepted.

I don't give Peterson a lot of credit for those rushing TD. My grandma could have made those.
If Peterson hadn't been there, some other player would have made the TDs. There were no "Peterson signature plays" involved.

What...?!

Peterson's seeming inability to run without tucking his carrying arm drives me insane as much as the next guy, but regardless of his obvious failures, he still got it done when it counted, i.e. in the red zone. When you rush for 122 yards and 3 TDs then it's rather hard to stand by the position that you "lost" them the game, isn't it??

As much as I wanted Favre to win, that final interception was perhaps the dumbest, most stupid, most idiotic, completely head-scratching brain fart I've seen in these playoffs. You never, never, ever throw across the body after you've rolled. It was a classic Brett Favre all-or-nothing gamble – but in a situation when it didn't call for that type of play unless they were going for the win. There was absolutely no need to be aggressive if they were just trying for a short-yardage pickup.

All they needed to do was make a safe, short-yardage play to burn off some time and get them a little closer to kicking range. Terrible play. Terrible.

I don't follow the conclusion that Peterson 'lost the game'. In addition to his 100+ yards and 3 TD's, he was involved in 3 fumbles. On the 2 fumbles that were purely his responsibility, the Vikings recovered (Peterson recovered 1 of them himself). On the other fumble (that the Vikings lost), it was on the exchange between Favre and Peterson, so you can say that's half Favre's fault. I fail to see how losing half a fumble constitutes 'losing the game'.

That last INT, though, was really a head-scratcher - and that's coming from someone who endured Cutler and the Bears all year...

I think he should put on tights and wrestle with other guys wearing tights while playing with a ball. For like 10 seconds. Then they should replay that hot man on man action from like 50 angles, even though it's the same thing. Then cut to commercial for a minute or two. Then repeat.

No reason both shouldn't stay. Vikings had a great year and should have had that game in hand. They lost the ball (turnovers) TWICE when they were in the red zone. That's 6 points (at least) right there that they left on the field. Credit to the Saints for forcing ONE of those turnovers, but IMO the Vikings should have won that game in regulation 31-28 or 35-28.

Calling the play terrible is one thing, but saying the interception lost the game is another. If they don't pick up decent yardage on that play, no way in hell do they make the field goal. The penalty put them out of Longwell's range; and even without the penalty, they were barely in it. They needed to pick up decent yardage on that play to be able to get a decent shot at making the field goal. If Favre forces a great play, they win the game. The interception ended up being no different than the punt or missed field goal they would have most likely ended up with anyway.

Like I said, if you think they should have called a different pass play fine. But it's like my old coaches used to say: only three things can happen when you pass the ball and two of them are bad.
"My friend, there are two kinds of people in this world:
those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig."
