I agree...Carmageddon 2 is actually the game I'd like to see carbonized.
I don't think it'll ever happen though.

That was definitely something fun. Perhaps, Carmageddon 2 could be Carbon-ised since it's newer. I still have yet to play it.

It was fun to run over pedestrians and smash into the opponent cars...but the real fun was to go off a small ramp with only two wheels on the ramp and watch the car fly up into the air and do crazy spins.
I'd spend hours doing funny stunts.
This game, imo, is a classic...too bad not many people have really heard of it. I suppose the senseless violence and concept prevented it from really becoming wildly popular.
But then again, the Grand Theft Auto serie is popular...I'm confused.

man... loved that games... wasted so much time on that playing my friends locally... C2 was better I think with larger areas and better graphics support... I want to see that one carbonized asap... and on GR

I assume that's one of the developers?
If not carbonizing it, then how about making the program code open source, a la Doom, Quake, etc...

Ask him for a rewrite of Crystal Quest too...not just a port...a rewrite.

A rewritten Crystal Quest for OS X would get my money.
The sounds can be recycled. They were awesome!

I'd buy both Crystal Quest X and Carmageddon X if they ever appeared. I used to play Carmageddon all the time in OS 9 - why aren't there any fun car games anymore? Anyone know if any Rally Car games are coming out for X?

Carmageddon II is my favourite game ever. I would *PAY* for a carbonized port of it!! I can't even calculate the amount of time I've wasted playing that game. heh heh My fav car to use was the car with the propellers..... that thing handled like a champ. Did any of you cats save up and buy the dump truck in the one level? *That* thing was a monster! ha ha ha *whirrrr* And the circus/fair level was great for stunts!
(The problem with putting a 64 MB card into the G4/400 is that it makes the graphics in that game look really assy... grrrr!)

I would rather see the next GTA released on the mac. It has a combination of difficult missions, radio stations, backstabbing gangs, mass violence, several different cars to steal, insane stunt bonuses...etc.
I played carmegeddon a couple of times but didn't get into because of the reasons above.
We need driver games on our platform such as Midnight Club, Gran Turismo, Driver, GTA, and even Carmegeddon. Good luck getting the console developers to make them though.

I'd really want to see any of Carmageddon Series (1,2 & 3) ported to MacOS X badly. I'm willing to pay full price again if they are ported with network option

This is the reply that Patrick sent me:
Thanks for all the kind words!
Much that we'd love to Carbonize Carmageddon 1 & 2, the rights to both
games are owned by SCi - industry standard I'm afraid, but after all,
they did pay for their development.
The real problem lies with getting any publisher to support the Mac
these days. We are currently developing a game on PS2, Xbox and GameCube
with a PC version to follow, which would be lapped-up by our Carmageddon
fans. It would be dead easy for us to do a Mac version, as our
technology is all totally cross-platform. However I haven't even
bothered asking the publisher, because the decibel level of the laughter
would make my ears hurt.
Even if we offered it to them for free, they would not publish it,
because the costs of marketing, manufacture and distribution are
considerable. I have been fighting the Mac cause since 1984, but it's
getting to the stage now where it just seems impossible.
However, when the game is finished, out on the shelves and selling well
(fingers crossed), I will raise the issue with them, as you never
know...
By the way, in case you didn't know, Carmageddon 1 & 2 on the PC was
developed almost exclusively on the Mac. Ironic eh?
Re: Crystal Quest, well there should be an OS X version of Crystal Crazy
at some point, but the last I heard from Casady & Greene, the guy meant
to be doing it had lost the plot. Oh well...

*digs out carmageddon II cd and boots OS 9*
Thanks for reminding me of the greatest time waster my computer has ever seen. I love these games.
My favorite car was the dune buggy. The car w/ propellers was cool too. Favorite level had to be ... ummmm.... the rock quarry.
