Can't "format" CD & burn

	Ok - this is really 1st grade stuff, so I'm sorry. I'm on a Tibook G4 and I just got that Firewire CD burner drive. I'm using Disk Burner and when I pop in a blank CD and put the CD I want to burn in my normal CD/DVD drive in my laptop, the computer says I need to prepare the blank media for burning. So I choose the iTunes, CD player format and it says that I don't have the program to format it. What's going on? And so that I don't bother you guys again, once I format it, how do I burn this sucker? Thanks for the help
