With my new DVD-Writer (LG) came an install CD, but the 8" kind of CD (rare as where I'm concerned). I stared at the 8" CD then I stared at the slot. And then I stared at the CD and the slot again and then I stared at both simultaneously.

I decided not to insert the 8" in CD slot.

But I'm curious if anyone tried doing that, and what the results are.

Most current slot-load drives do NOT support 8 cm CDs.

There were a few slot load drives early on that did though apparently

Centimeters is what I meant, not inches.

(from old Canadian school)

But thanks Eug! Good to know.

the wii slot has the ability to accept regular discs and the Nintendo Game Cube discs. Mac drives should be able to do the same, but I wouldn't try unless you want to ruin your drive. You need a computer with a disc tray.

Mac drives don't. The Wii drive starts bring the disk in on its own soon after you insert it. Macs take in the disks when you've almost put the whole thing in.

Is that how it works? Well, I think Macs should do what the Wii does then, don't you?

Like I said, most models of Mac slot load drives don't support them.

Do not try it unless you're 100% sure it's supported on your specific model of drive. (More likely than not, it's unsupported, and can damage the drive.)

So, if it's 8cm there won't be more than 200M on the disc. Why don't you copy it to a flash drive on a PC?
