My friend is trying to connect with her Mom via iChat AV and unfortunately, I am not an expert in this application by any stretch. I've been doing a lot of reading here and in other places about ports, firewalls, bandwidth limits, etc but we haven't figured it out just yet. She uses a macbook with ichat and her mom uses a pc with aol.

The error below is generated when her mom invites her. If she invites Mom, Mom gets an error that says the camera is in use by another application and auto-declines the invitation. I've read through the error code but it's a bit gibberish to me. I really appreciate any comments you have! Thank you! (I blocked out her username).

I have not read reports of anyone successfully linking up between iChatAV and AOL. And I have looked! Two options: your friend's mum should install Trillian Pro which does work nicely with iChatAV (she does need the Pro version though which costs although there is a demo period). An option which is possibly easier is to install Skype at both ends which does a very nice job of video-conferencing (although not quite as nice as iChat IMO).
