I require a WMV component for quicktime (I have pro), but I want to avoid using the Flip4Mac component. Is there a third party component or applications that allows quicktime to play WMV files? A suggestion of one would be useful.

Thanks.

Why don't you want to use WM Components for QuickTime?

Why not Flip4Mac? Works great.

For WMV with QuickTime, Flip4Mac is it.

I got a bit annoyed at Flip4Mac when I converted a movie (think it was a .avi) in quicktime for AppleTV, and the final product was watermarked by Flip4Mac. There was no indication that Flip4Mac had anything to do with the conversion; other .avi's converted via quicktime had no watermark.

So I got rid of it and just use quicktime/vlc/mplayer/perian.

Flip4Mac is the Microsoft sanctioned way to view and edit WMVs. There may not be a better way if the movie is actually in a WMV format. (If it's in the AVI wrapper, it could actually be MS-MPEG4v3 or something, in which case, you could have Perian or one of the other codecs take care of that for you)
