Also?

In 9 just delete the Internet Explorer 5 folder from the Applications (Mac OS 9) folder (pre 9.1 it will be the Applications folder).

In X just delete the Internet Explorer app from the Applications folder and drag its icon out of the dock.

No harm no mess.

Try this to remove Internet Explorer (IE)........
Locate and move to the trash......
Internet Explorer folder........
Explorer folder in the Preferences....
and Microsoft Component & Internet Library from the Extension folder.

After a few restarts and all plays well, then delete/empty the Trash....

Well gang in OSX you need to get Mozilla with the mrj 1.0 plugin (search <a href="http://www.versiontracker.com" target="_blank">www.versiontracker.com</a> in the OS X tab for mozilla to get em. As of this writing it's the ONLY fully Java compliant web browser for OS X. Internet exploder is now not in MY dock anymore as it is incapable at Java in OS X.

Actually I think M$ chose not to impement Java because of there recent snafu with Sun (who is suing or had sued M$) as M$ was trying to implement their own 'version/interpretation' of Java to become the 'standard' and thus muscle out yet another competitor that wouldn't agree to M$ terms(which they are very good at of course <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" /> 'The M$ way or the highway' lives on!
