So, we've heard that Apple has/is giving a 10.2 preview CD to the developers @ WWDC but thats on it?

- A beta 10.2 system?
- Guide & Screen Captures?
- Interactive Preview?

Anyone got one of these CD's? Who is going to share some info about it or better yet put it online (i'll host )

I don't feel like waiting for it to appear on carracho

I'd hope its more that a "Guide & Screen Captures" or an "Interactive Preview". They gave out six CDs: Two Jaguar, two Jaguar Developer, and two Jaguar Server CDs!

I saw that too.

Does that mean that OS X 10.2 will come on 2 CDs, or will this be optimized/sleeked down to one CD for release?

If that is so then expect them to hit the net this week. Remember to tell us if the interface is really much faster or just a little snappier.

2,500 people have 2 CD's that we all want. I don't think it will be that hard to get.

Oh geez. Wait for it, fellas. Some moron will install 10.2 beta, have his hard drive erased then blame Apple.

Don't encourage devlopers who have the CD to give it out, and Developers: Keep with Apple's wishes and don't distribute the beta. Please.

Hey! I resent that. I've had my Mac screwed over by alot of beta software. Do I blame the programmer? No. I blame myself and go to get the recover CD's.

'Bout time we started seeing DVDs as a distribution option. I want it all on one singular, fantabulous, ridiculous, nutritious, delicious digital disk.

The version of "jag-wire" given out at the WWDC is being reported everywhere as a pre-alpha version. Nowhere near something that would be worth installing on a system you want to work on.

The idea is that the developers get an early look at how to support the new stuff that Apple is putting in. Not seeing things early enough is something that the developers have complained about in the past. Could be that Apple is listening.

Be sure though that if this release hits the Carracho^WHotline^Wyour favourite P2P app Apple may review this policy, or at least try and track down the source.

As it's so early in development it will include much debugging code so will be much larger than the final release, so don't be so sure that it will need 2 CDs.

As for using DVD as a distribution medium. People complained at having DVD rather than CD-RW so Apple listened. If they switch to DVD for distribution expect those people to complain more. DVD will only become a distribution medium when Apple can be sure that the vast majority of users have a DVD capable drive.

The developer got 6 CDs. It's not just a multimedia presentation, it's the System and the tools.

Mac OS X (2) + Dev Tools (2)+ Mac OS X Server (2)

For Mac OS X Server, it must be just the System on 1 CD and maybe NetBoot on another CD

For Dev Tools, currently Dev Tools only needs one CD but it's quite full due to the documentation. If this version includes more documentation and sample code for new technology, it may need an additional CD

For Mac OS X, there might be System on 1 CD, iApps on second CD

If you are Premier you'll probably get it with the next developer mailing. Maybe even as Select.
Nasrudin sat on a river bank when someone shouted to him from the opposite side: "Hey! how do I get across?" "You are across!" Nasrudin shouted back.
