Canon today announced an expansion to its Pixma printer line. Revealed today are seven new models of printers utilizing Canon's print technology with the Pixma MG7720, three models in the the MG6800 series, and three models of the MG5700 series of Wireless Inkjet All-in-One (AIO) printers.

The Pixma MG7720 printer comes equipped with the Intelligent Touch System user interface and a 3.5-inch touch screen to navigate through various menus. Color resolution is 9600x2400 with black prints generated at 600x600. The scanner scans at an optical resolution of 2400x4800DPI. Canon claims speeds of 15 images per minute in black, and 10 images per minute in color, with 4x6 photos printed in 21 seconds. This model also features six individual ink tanks. The Pixma MG7720 printer will be available in black, white, gold and red and has an estimated retail price of $200.


The Pixma MG6800 printer series features an easy-to-use, 3.0-inch TFT touch screen for easy navigation and a five color individual ink set. It is also equipped with a dual purpose paper tray for plain paper in addition to photo paper where a 4 x 6 inch borderless photo can be printed in approximately 41 seconds. Canon notes 15 images per minute in black, and 9.7 images per minute in color.

Color resolution on the MG6800 series is 4800x1200DPI, with black up to 600x600DPI. Scanning resolution is 1200x2400DPI optical, and 19200x19200 interpolated. The Pixma MG6820 printer will be available in white and black while the MG6821 is available in black and silver and the MG6822 is available in white and silver. Each model has an estimated retail price of $150.


The Pixma MG5700 printer series includes the same five individual ink tank system as the Pixma MG6800 series printer models where four of the inks are designed for use when printing a color document or image in addition to a dedicated ink tank for printing black and white text documents. These models are also capable of automatically printing a two-sided document.

Color photos print at approximately 41 seconds for a 4x6 print for the MG5700 series.. Canon notes 12.6 images per minute printing in black, and 9 images per minute in color. Maximum color resolution is 4800x1200. The MG5720 printer will be available in white and black, while the MG5721 is available in black and silver and the MG5722 is available in white and silver. Each model has an estimated retail price of $100.
