Occasionally I run across a website whose text shows up incredibly small while using Safari. Does anyone know if there is a way to increase the text size (without having to do it through Preferences)?

You can use the Text Size buttons to change the size of the onscreen text. The buttons look like a small and large size "A". If you don't see these buttons, then you can enable them from the View menu.

as a followup:

how can you default to your preferred text size?

if i'm using one, and then close out, safari reverts to a smaller one.

Check the Appearance tab in the Preferences menu.

Just hit pretzel and the "=/+" key (you don't need to hit shift...just the key. Pretzel and "-" makes it smaller.

Pretzel, that made me laugh outloud. No offense, but I never heard that before. People call it the command key, in case you didn't know. A lot of people are still stuck on calling it the apple key even after years of Apple trying to phase it out.

Yeah. I know. I used to call it the "deedlie key."

My problem with calling it the "command key" is that there is nothing about it that would indicate that it is, in fact, the "command key." Apple keeps it around, no doubt, as a matter of historical continuity. But if it's going to be the command key, it needs to say "cmd" or some such.

Especially if they're targeting switchers.

You have to admit, though, that calling it the "pretzel key" is a lot clearer than the "command key" to someone who doesn't know much about Macs.

Glad I got a laugh out of you!

Cheers
Scott
