If you've read the OS X documentation, then you know that it is possible to create custom "applets", that activate on start up. My question is, would it be possible to hack a way to make the "Classic Startup" package launch at startup? (This might belong in OS X - Developer, but I wasn't sure)

Is this what you mean? Go to System Prefs and there should be a box you can check that launches it at startup.

No, if I'm not mistaken, that only activates it *on login*. I'm saying that it would boot right along with Network services, Login.app, and the "rest of them". Sort of how the SETI client behaved in the PB(not sure if it still loads on startup, haven't used it since Final).

I suppose you could make a shell script to launch the "TrueBlueEnvironment" process and have that run at boot time. What is it exactly you are trying to accomplish? Do you want to boot OS X straight into Classic, have Classic persist across multiple login/logouts, or something else?

Inquiring minds want to know...

I'm pretty sure Geobunny's done this already. Try emailing him or something in case he doesn't see this.

I think. If he doesn't know what you're talking about then just say it was my fault.

Yes, that's exactly what I want. Starting up Classic isn't bad, but it is a pain having to "reboot" the Classic environment every time you Login/Logout. That's what I'm trying to get fixed. Alas, I'm just now starting to learn C, followed by Obj C, so it would be awhile before I could really give it a shot. Any Dev wanna give it a try?

[EDIT] alright, thanks gorg. btw, how do I get ahold of his email?

REVITUP,

I'm interested in the idea too. If and when you get a reply, would you be able to post some info here in this thread? Thanks.
