Hi all,

I need some help here, one my girlfriend's ibook g4 in the slot loading cd drive is a dvd. It WILL NOT come out. F12 will attempt to eject the disk. However the disk doesn't come out and you can see the keyboard on the right side of the laptop raise a little. I am kinda worried.

My G4 iBook CD/DVD drive died just four months after I purchased the Mac, so I have a little experience in this area...

Whatever you do, don't try to pry or force it out of the slot. The drive likely needs replacing, which Apple will do under warranty in just a couple of days. But if there is evidence of attempts to force the DVD out of the slot, the warranty is voided.

Have you tried to hold down the trackpad button while restarting your computer? That will cause the disc to be ejected unless it's physically stuck. It should pop out right around the time you see the OS X progress bar loading up on your screen. Good luck.

retrieve CD stuck in Apple CD slot

Here's what worked for me:
I put double-stick tape to the end of a long thin (flat) plastic ruler.
Pushed it all the way in and pushed it down until it stuck to the cd and then jiggled it to it came to the front.
