No way that will fly. The article is 4 months old and apple knows ONLY intel can let apple save face, only intel can secure the future of the PB line.....funny after all the junk apple talked about intel and all the jokes. NOW, INTEL WILL SECURE THE FUTURE OF PB's.....

I never said we would see a PB G5, I just saw that it could have happened.
When 4 months after this GPU is readdy, we don t even have a decent G4 update in the PB line..

could one of the upgrade card manufacturers come out with a G5 PB upgrade, after Apple moves to Intel? Would the latest PB Rev. be any more open to an upgrade vs. a previous generation PB?
That could make for some interesting discussions if the G5 upgrade outperformed the Intel PB.

I think I meant to say a better G4 chip and not G5 specific because of its heat requirements -- probably still a "no" though.

I assume you're refering to the "16W at 1.6Ghz" claim. A few things about that:
1) For many tasks the G5 is slower, clock for clock, than the G4.
2) IBMs marketing "typical TDP" figures are a bit low. For another revision of PPC970 they said 24.5W at 2Ghz, but then in the engineering docs they said the max was 51W at 2Ghz. So double the 16W figure to 32W and you're on the upper limit of what you can put in a reasonable laptop.

Relax kiddies  - I mistyped - I meant a newer G4 after Apple goes Intel -- one of those Freescale of whatever the heck IBM has going -- that is all -- I do not expect a G5 PB. Thank you and good day.
