Terminal coloring (folders etc) and scandinavian letters

how do i set the termainal so it colors the files depending on if it is a folder ot file etc...
and how do i enable å ä and ö
when i type them it outputs \303\245, \303\244, and \303\266

ls -G will enable the colour function. You can add
alias ls="ls -G"
in .bash_profile in your home directory.
Regarding another problem, I guess the terminal doesn't support that kind of language. I have no idea about how to sort it out.

Make sure UTF-8 is selected as the display character encoding (using the Inspector)?
