downloaded, installed. went to open, agreed to the terms. opened the app, it started converting my library, then crashes every time. rebooted, same thing. am gonna try to reinstall (i DL'd it from apple site).

The only thing that irks me is that when you go download a free HD episode is that it automatically starts to download a standard def episode as well. Taking up more hard drive space.

iTunes knows if you have surround set up or not while playing video. No audio when surround is clicked.

iTunes won't recognize my iPod touch. It will recognize my shuffle. Fun stuff. Reinstalling now. I must say, I am a fan though of the new interface and whatnot. I don't like that it downloads the standard def episodes either. There goes my 250 gb HD.

Then I deleted iTunes, installed again... it still crashes.

Then I restored iTunes 7 from backup.

Since iTunes 8 was an mpkg, I don't know if it installed other things outside of the iTunes.app.

I think its time to start drug screening Apple developers

I had already done the qt update from Software Update before upgrading to iTunes 8.

I used software update, no iTunes 8 yet, just QT 7.5.5 When I ran it after the QT install there was an update for Front Row, no iTunes 8, I, ll wait until SU downloads it to install.

Yes, but for me I installed qt first, then iTunes 8 & was left stuck with the same original issue you had before installing qt. It would be interesting to know if other users installed iTunes 8 first, then installing the qt update somehow fixed the iTunes problem.

Installed iTunes 8 and QT 7.5.5 and not a single problem.

I'm not happy those jump arrows back to the iTunes store aren't disabled after the update, however. Looks like they removed that preference.

So from iTunes 7, I got a message that there is a new 2.1 version of iPod software for my iPod Touch. Cool. So I upgraded my Touch to 2.1.

NOW iTunes indicates that my iPod "CANNOT BE USED BECAUSE IT REQUIRES ITUNES VERSION 8.0 OR LATER"!!!!

Did anyone else notice that the "Read me before you install" readme file that came with iTunes8 is an .app file? Wierd. I am trying to reinstall iTunes 8, then reinstall QT 7.55 after to simulate the scenario that seemed to make iTunes 8 work for some, so that I can again sync my Touch. Grrrrr....

Randomly, iTunes decided to recognize my iPod touch. I'm pretty impressed with iTunes 8. The Genius is pretty cool, although it will probably become unwanted Surprisingly, it runs very well on my 867 Mhz PowerBook G4 with a paltry 640 mb of RAM, even in the new view.

Tried that too, it's still a no-go for me. I have 10.5.4 running on a 15" MBP 2.4 GHz C2D.

Btw, after downgrading back to iTunes 7, "check for updates..." in iTunes shows that there is a new version of iTunes. Then if I click 'ok' to download it, Software Updates is launched, but then Software Updates indicates that there is no new software for my Mac.

Now in /Library/Receipts/iTunesX.pkg/Contents/version.plist, it looks as though I have version 8 installed. I ran the mpkg to upgrade to v8, which failed, so then copied a backup of iTunes.app v7 to /Applications, but does Software Update depend on info in /Library/Receipts to be accurate?

I also have the same problems ;-( Don't know what to do now. Don't know how to downgrade back to 7.7.1 . Right now I'm using the free version of Audion 3.0.2 which can only listen to Mp3 files but cannot listen to .aac or MPA. I'm waiting for the update of iTunes 8, hopefully it can fix the problem.

Have anyone know the free software that can listen to .aac file beside Quicktime ?

for the genre column:

defaults write com.apple.iTunes show-genre-when-browsing -bool FALSE

for the little ITMS arrows:

defaults write com.apple.iTunes show-store-arrow-links -bool FALSE

enter those two commands in the terminal.

If any of you have followed a procedure to keep the pre-10.5.2 transparent menus with blur effect (not the menu bar) which involved putting back an old version of a file called "HIToolbox" after 10.5.x updates, apparently iTunes 8 cannot launch if this old file is present.

So the choice is: iTunes 7.7 or no more blur effect in menus.

I just copied a backup of 7.7.1 from Time Machine to /Applications. Next, copy the latest pre-upgrade version of your iTunes Library file from the "Previous iTunes Libraries" folder back to the iTunes folder (one level higher; & take out the date in filename).

This worked for me but I don't know if there is a better solution. I noticed, for example, that under /Library/Receipts, it appears as if I still have iTunes 8 installed.

Thanks, but too bad I'm using Tiger, so no Time Machine. I think I have to wait for the upgrade of 8.0 . Right now, can only listen to .mp3 files via Audion 3.0.2 . If anyone know the alternative to iTunes that can play .aac or .M4a file(but not quicktime please ), please let me know. Oh! I forgot to mention that I have iWow plug-in installed on iTunes, not sure if that the problem ?
