As you may have noticed, the source for OpenOffice for OS X was released today. http://porting.openoffice.org/mac/

Anyone know where I might find a binary of this? (Or could somebody send me one?) My past attempts at compiling things didn't go very well so I'm hoping to save myself some time and frustration.

The reason it's open sourced is becasue there is a lot of work to be done on it before it can work on OSX.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind a binary. I tried getting the source code and compiling, but the instructions call for runsocks, which doesn't seem to be anywhere, even with the dev tools installed.

Don't even bother, it is a serious effort to get this thing compiled, and when it's done, it'll be only half functional. I think it takes somewhere around 17 hrs.

Ugh. What're the chances of this ever becoming a Mac-like program?

I think there is a good chance we will see something by the end of the year.
