The new iMac is great :-) The screen is so good, bright and clear.
I can't get over how much faster it seems than my old DVSE 400.
Stunning is the word !!

What kind of desk is your new iMac sitting on? It seems like it's backlit - what is it?

The 700mhz iMac is the one that I want to look at. How much slower will the 700 be compared to the 800?

I have my iMac on a glass topped table from IKEA.
It has a light underneath, very much like the displays Apple uses at shows.
It's really nice to look at and good to work with as well.

Nope. I aint gettin rid of Bondi . I'm just keeping my options open for summer. With OS X and new games, my iMac is getting pretty overwhelmed. If I do get a new iMac, I'm still keepin Bondi. Long live Bondi!

A 733 tower on a 133 bus should be about equal to an 800 iMac on a 100 bus.
Nothing surprising about that.
Pros can afford to buy dual 800's, 933's, and dual 1 gigs

I ordered mine from the Apple Store on Jan 7 just after the Keynote and it arrived today! I guess they decided to ship to a few that ordered first. By the way, I had 256mb added.

Got to play with my new iMac tonight! Wow, I have never been so excited in opening a computer box. This machine is absolutely awesome, how did Mr. Jobs put it?, "truly a marble." The wait is worth it guys. Below are some pictures of tonight.

I love my SGI widescreen flatpanel but the iMac LCD looks brighter but not sharper.
Cheers,

Cool pictures Armando, a little cluttered, but cool. I think the iMac looks so much better than your PC, they don't belong together! It's like beauty and the beast. Even the iPod just comes out at you from the other devices. This is what I love about Apple, they make beautiful products!

hehe, let me tell you how nice a new iMac looks on this table set. Makes your table worth $1799 more too.
I need to figure out where exactly I'm going to place my iMac. I agree, my desk is very cluttered.

But how are you going to adjust from that HUGE 22" display down to the 15" on the iMac?

Nice setup! And great comparison of the sizes of all your gadgets! I have a SGI 1600SW too, and I find it pretty washed out compared to my PowerBook's screen and I usually increase it's brightness... But it still isn't the same. Anyway, I hope all of you lucky people enjoy your iMacs!

No adjustment neccessary - I'll only be using the iMac for burning CDs & DVDs, and my iPhoto archive of our new baby photos. The Cinema Display is still gonna be my primary work monitor - gotta have room for all of the palettes in Photoshop 7 Dreamweaver & Flash 6!

Thanks for the comments Brad. Yeah, having a new baby is one of the most wonderful things. Our daughter is 6 months and I already have hundreds of pictures. I'll be using iPhoto on my new iMac to organize all her photos and iDVD to make all her videos on DVD.
Best wishes with your new addition!

As a design oriented person and as a person who cooks daily, I give your kitchen points for the open shelves and the attempt at color. Although, I would't personally paint my kitchen lime. I'd use a warmer color.
However, that electric stove seriously needs to go! Replace it with a gas stove. Cooking on electric is just cruel.
Until that day, as far as I'm concerned, your kitchen sucks.

On that note; as someone with a gas stove that's now spawned four leaks I'd love to trade it for electic just on the safety factor.
(2nd stove ... 3 leaks on the 1st one, 1 on the second.)

Wow - it sucks? I know, I know, electric stoves are lame - but we're just renting the loft so we're kinda stuck with it. And as far as the lime green paint goes, it contracts nicely with the rest of the loft (true blue, dark mustard, and dark red). We like it. Sorry you don't.

I used a Canon PowerShot S30 3.2 MegaPixel digital camera. It's an awesome camera - a ton of manual controls - but also very easy to use!

The Cinema Display is, hands-down, THE best monitor money can buy. Unfortanety it takes A LOT of money to actually buy one (I've had mine for a year and a half now - which means I paid the full $3999 for it, OUCH! - but my work has an employee purchase program, so the money is gradually taken out of my checks over 2 years time - no interest and they pay 2 installments - WOO HOOO!).
I can't say enough about it, it's just incredible. I use Photoshop, Flash and Dreamweaver all of the time and with the ACD there is plenty of room for palettes and actual work space. I highly suggest getting one if you can justify the cost - it saves desk space, is way easier on your eyes, bright and crisp as hell, and looks awesome.
