My poor Powerbook has been in a dying state for awhile and instead of just leaving it in a closet, wondered if anyone would want it for parts or to fix.
It
probably needs a new logic board. What happens is that the display goes all "freaky" with lines through it. Evidently, this had been a problem with many other owners of this model Powerbook according to the threads I found over on Apple's support site. Stupid me for not buying Applecare with it but stupid Apple for not covering what is definitely a defect since other people had the same problem. But, I digress.
I can't make the display go "freaky" - it seems to have a mind of it's own on when it wants to do it. It can run for days without fail and other days, it'll do it within 5 minutes. Seems to happen more often than not by moving the screen or the laptop but, alas, I tried these tricks the other day and couldn't get it to screw up.
Enough of my story.
What I have here is:
1GHz 15" Titanium Powerbook
1 GB RAM
DVD-RW 1x (flashed with unsupported firmware to write at 2x; works fine)
No dead pixels that I can see
Battery says it gets about 1:30
DVI > VGA Adapter
Svideo Adapter
2 AC Adapters
OSX 10.2 (??) CD
THERE IS NO HARD DRIVE IN THE MACHINE! I did install one the other week and loaded 10.2 from CD just to make sure it was working and to take pics.
The machine is fairly clean, usage scratches on surfaces and the battery is missing its rubber foot. I checked and the battery is NOT part of the recall.
I'm guessing it's worth about $300 but will probably take any reasonable offer for it. Buyer pays shipping and I only accept Paypal. My eBay ID is the same as my Macnn username.
