I'm sure the Safari ( 5.1.5 ) icon in the Dock (drag & dropped) has gone fuzzy recently, when it used to be sharp.

I've even re-installed Safari 5.1.5

Information shows a nice clean, sharp icon in preview, but not in the top icon pic.

Should it be sharp, like all my other icons ?

Any help appreciated.

I've re-dragged and dropped, gone back into Time Machine etc, no solution found yet.

Web searching, it actually does appear to be a common problem.

I've been on 10.7.3 on new iMac for 43 days now, perhaps it was just sharp on my older imac with 10.6.8 ?

Dock icon 10.6.8 old iMac, Safari 5.1.4

Icon copied to 5.1.5 under 10.7.3, dock icon as fuzzy as before , not as sharp as under 10.6.8 !

Previously (same as first image)

So, 10.7.3 and / or iMac must be messing up the Dock icon sharpness.

It's the same fuzziness in Launchpad too.

Which OS ?

Perhaps it's a combination of 10.7.3 and an iMac ?

It's the same fuzziness if I replace the Safari icon in Information with QT icon.

Left to right

Camino ..... QT icon Safari ..... QT icon QT

You can see the difference between the two QT icons

Now, here's something really interesting

Camino ... Safari 5.1.2 ..... Safari 5.1.5 ..... QT10.1..... QT10.1 copy ..... QT7.6.6 ..... QT7.6.6 copy

Both the QT app copies are fuzzy, copied in Applications

Safari 5.1.2 is sharp
If I copy the Safari 5.1.2 icon to 5.1.5 icon, it goes fuzzy in the dock !

The differences show up better in Launchpad, can't get Safari 5.1.2 to show

So, did the problem occur in the first place or were you tinkering with customized icons?

No tinkering at first, fuzzy from the start.

See notes about 10.6.8 above.

And it's mentioned elsewhere on the net.
