Just put in our first G5 system. Using Dr. Bott KVMs to control multiple machines and use non-Mac keyboards in a mixed Mac/Linux/Windows environment.
Problem: Can't open the CD/DVD drive since there is no "media eject" key on the non-Mac keyboard.
How do we get the CD/DVD drive open? there is no physical button on the machine as there previously used to be?
We DO NOT want to change keyboards for a variety of reasons, so that's not a solution.
Surely there must be a way to open the drive without having to reboot or use the media key????

You could also try F12, that sometimes works on standard keyboards. Try the modifiers along with it (shift, cmd, cntrl, opt).
YMMV

Thanks, F12 seems to be working. (I did check the documentation that came with the G5 and it makes absolutely no reference to this!!)

You don't need TinkerTool for that. Just double click the Eject.menu
file:///System/Library/CoreServices/...ras/Eject.menu
(control-click in Safari and open in new window to reveal)

Thanks Tetenal,
I've never even heard about this set of Menu Extras before. Awesome!
