Anyone still struggling to get Silk right ? Here's my contribution.
Download pdf (app 220 KB)
ad page 1 : Global enabled / Adobe Applications enabled
ad page 2 : launch apps, if needed : add to list and enable
ad page 3 : Global = Font Substitution, NO Custom Theme Font
ad page 4 : app settings = NO font Substitution, Custom Theme Font (NO fast)
ad page 5 : TinkerTool needed for maximal font substitution (still no 100% though)

What is that page 4 showing? No font substitution, but a custom theme for Safari? What does that accomplish? That option has always confused me...

I've always considered my page 4 as an extra customization for app's that don't take the global substitution. IOW, I only include individual app's if needed.
That's why I find the settings of optimus_prime very interesting, he just about activated every option. Is this overkill ? Would he achieve the same results without some ?
As a result of his settings, I'm pretty much sure his app's don't have Lucida Grande available anymore. If you'd pick it in a text editor, it would probably show his substitute. Yeah, I know, who whould miss Luci

hah! yeah it probably is overkill. i activated it and substituted handel for lucida globally.
then on certain apps (safari, textedit, webrowsers etc.) i singled out to not replace lucida.
itunes is the only exception where im changing lucida with 2 different fonts. 1 for the menubar and another for everything else.

Everything but the font in the menubar? or the way the menubar looks? If it's the way it looks... that's all shapeshifter. If it's the font...
1. Open Silk
2. Click "Global/Application Settings", select Global.
3. Click "Font Settings"
4. Select "Font Substitution Enabled" (make sure min font size and custom theme font are not selected)
5. Original font should be "Lucida Grande" (click original to apply this)
6. Then just select w/e font you want to replace lucida with and hit "Replace"
... then if you want to, change all the orig fonts in tinkertool to the replacement font used in 6 except for fixed pitch, which should stay at monaco. This should do the trick. If you're trying to get handel mod as a global font like pretty much everyone else PM me.

Gerrit's pdf version is still available. They basically say the same thing except gerrit's is a little more in depth. Download the pdf and follow his comments from his post here. If you are having any trouble working with system fonts or silk feel free to PM me. I spent a good amount of time trying to figure this out on my own as well as asking around as far as what to do so I know how annoying/difficult it can be if you're new to this. Hope this helps.
