Yesterday I finally got Mac OS 10.1 (5G64). I installed on a Wallstreet Rev2 G300 DVD 320MB Ram Original 8GB HD with 10.04 and Lucent Wavelan Turbo Silver (Orinoco) PCMCIA Card... I had been using the open source Wireless Driver under 10.04!

Now Wireless will no longer work under 10.1. The option is grayed out in the network control panel. Uninstall and Reinstall produced the same results. IM really bummed out. I guess IM glad I didn't upgrade the processor yet...

Other than that IM proud to report TCP/IPperformance is in fact dramatically improved via ethernet on 56k through Airport both on my B/W G3 400 and wallstreet. I was getting 9k sec on 56k connection!

If anyone knows a way to get the Wavelan card working again under 10.1, please let me know!

Fear not, I suspect Rob McKeever will release a 10.1 version on or about the 10.1 release date. I know that a recent version was working with earlier 10.1 builds.

Stay tuned!

Keep your eye on Versiontracker, Softrak (www.stepwise.com) and robs site for updates.

Cheers

If you are really desperate to get it working now, try the following.

download and install the Wirelessdriver for 10.1 5G27 from http://homepage.mac.com/robm
open the terminal
become root
edit the info.plist file inside the WirelessDriver.kext
near the bottom of the Info.plist file
change this:

<key>com.apple.iokit.IOPCCardFamily</key>
<string>1.1.0f1</string>

to:

<key>com.apple.iokit.IOPCCardFamily</key>
<string>1.1.0</string>

reboot

note: if you used the 10.0.4 installer from my site you will also need to restore the 10.1 version of IOPCCardFamily.kext from /var/backups to its appropriate place, alternatively reinstall 10.1.

edited the link to point to the correct site (oops)

I downloaded the WirelessDriver_10_1.dmg and did the install on my Lombard, and my WaveLAN now works (sort of). It still won't see my printer on the network (LW Pro 600 thru EtherWave).

The printer shows up in 10.1 in my Cube with an AirPort card.
Hoping the Wireless Driver for third-party cards can soon be updated to meet this need.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Yuriwho and Rob!
