Hi

I'm upgrading the office from Jaguar to Panther. Is there a list somewhere of software that need updates to run smoothly with Panther? I'm sure many of you have gone through this - so please help.

I have to have minimum downtime, and would like to be pre... pared.

That's a really open-ended question. Perhaps if you listed your most important apps, it would be easier for people to give specific information about their compatibility.

I don't know of such a list as such, but most Jaguar-compatible software is fine with Panther.

Perhaps you could supply a list of software that you need to run on Panther, and people here could tell you about their experience with it?

Ah - ok. I thought that there may an Apple list floating around on this.

I don't think there are any outstanding incompatibilities. Just upgrade and see what doesn't work. I bet everything will work fine.

The only thing on your list that might be a bit wonky is Toast, but there are free updates to make it panther friendly (I can't recall if 5.1 included such updates or not)

The problem is that there are thousands of applications, with more being written everyday (by both "real companies" and the common Joe Programmer). It would be near impossible to compile an accurate, up-to-date list of all software incompatibilities.
If you're ever in doubt, check with the developer of any critical apps before updating.
