If Italy carry on playing so dirty, they'll be a man down soon, and I'll have to change my prediction back to 2-1 to Sweden

It's not fair, my prediction was based on the assumption that Sweden would be in top form!

But Yay for Italia!

You lot! You can't change your predictions, or alter them. You have to state them before the match and that's it, done. Those are the rules.

Great match, Sweden were so hungry during the last half hour. Excellent.

Now Sweden needs to play for a draw against the Swiss so that Italy is knocked out. That would make the first round results even more enjoyable.

Two steps forward (six steps back)

Can we put the word PREDICTION somewhere in a prediction post, maybe CURRENTLY in an on-going game and FINAL for, yup, you guessed it the final result???

Would make it much more easier for people skimming this thread who can not follow all the action as it happens.....

And as long as England chokes like they usually do I am happy

The handball was definitely lucky, but it was not intentional. Trzguet was not even looking toward the ball when it happened. The ref had not reason to blow the whistle. But yeah, France got really lucky against Croatia. that's what happens to great teams they say.

PREDICTION: It's all in the clouds.

The performance of the teams has been very irregular so far, with only the Swedes constantly playing well in fact. Technically, the Italians, French and English have been the best IMHumbleO, but that hasn't saved them from coming dangerously close to getting booted from the tournament, as all three of the above teams had the age old problem of sitting on their laurels and being over confident once they had scored a goal, only to get a number of eye openers later in the game (The UK-France, France-Croatia and Italy-Sweden game shows this). I think that these teams will only get further if they start taking the games more seriously and they should because they all have huge potential.

Greece has been a major surprise, as has Sweden, and both teams deserve to go further. Everyone seems to have been waiting for the Greeks to make a major mistake but they haven't done so yet, and I think their new trainer has certainly changed the team. I expect them to thrash the Russians in their next game. The Sweden-Denmark game will probably be one of the most interesting games yet as both stand to lose out if Italy thrashes Bulgaria in a similar manner to the way that Sweden and Denmark did.

Holland might very well crash out against the Czechs unless they pull their act together, because their team shows brilliance (Van Nistelrooy) with lack of coordination. Germany, I think, will surprise everyone again, by getting to the semis or finals with solid but unspectacular playing. The Czechs are also a wild card, as they have some serious talent but seem to lack motivation.

I think the Spanish are so demotivated (Morientes making depressing remarks about his team) that they might well crash out againt Portugal, who have come back very well after their defeat against the surprising Greeks.

My gut feeling says that probably the finals will be between one of the surprises, Sweden or Greece, and one of the 4 majors such as Germany, France, the UK or Italy.

Predicshuuuunnnn!!!: Holland 2 Czech Republic 0

P.S. Germany played like a bunch of Sumo wrestlers today: Heavy as lead in attack with light footed defense and the Latvians played like Schumacher in attack, one against the world, and like the iron curtain in defense. What a crap game.
