I want to make both a business and business letter head. I am a little old fashioned and prefer to Center my personal letter head. I was using WordPerfect on my NeXT machine, in of which all I had to do was hi-lite what I wanted Centered, go to Format, and click Center, and viola item/word/paragraph was centered. Can any instruct me on how to do this. Thanks

You can add that button to the button bar.
go to edit/preferanceses/button bar, open it up.
scroll down to word prossesing, in this folder are word prossesing buttons,
choose the centering button, click on it and drag it to the button bar to the possition you prefer, drop it into place, now you can just click on this button to centre your text.

No need to go to that trouble:
When you open a page in Text in AppleWorks, many of your feature controls are built right into the standard window.
Look below the Title bar and above the Ruler - there are controls for left, centre, right justification, line spacing, tab settings, list making etc.
Just highlight the text and click on the centre justification and it positions immediately.
