Can a mod close this thread please? I don't like what it has turned into.

Either that or it should now be declared a Rainbows and Puppies thread.
Do you want forgiveness or respect?

Nobody who plays MMOs WANTS to be the character they play. Think of it as an interactive movie.

I've always imagined how different my life would be if I was a 6 foot elven female named Keerin.

If only, man, if only.

If only we could all spend time building custom center channels.

Then we'd be relevant.

Would you rather be a wood pixie in green tights? Or a plumber with the power to sit on stuff?

Neither. But I know what you're referring to, and neither of the people who are into Zelda or Mario dork out as much as WOW players.

I wouldn't call my sister a 'gamer chick,' but she does like playing video games i had/have, like Goldeneye, GTA, any sports games, Guitar Hero, and she also likes Mario Party and The Sims. She's not a fan of most first person shooters though.

Well now you talked her all up. How about instead you just post a picture of you, and we can photoshop your face onto a hot chick's body to see how she looks.

Are you insane? Do you really think that 8 million plus players of WoW fall even remotely into that category? Maybe about 10% of the ones who play the RP servers, but man. WoW is mainstream culture now. Almost half the players are female. Get over yourself and your silly preconceptions.

Do you believe everybody who drives a low-emissions car should be arrested because they're obviously too high to drive? Maybe people who play FPS games shouldn't be allowed near schools because they're obviously psychopaths?

So you're saying 1 million people are as I described? Only 1 million?

I'll tell you this: I've never met anybody who plays that game that isn't lame.

I know lame people who play it. Most of the people I know who play it are not lame, though — mainly because I don't associate with lame people.

I used to play WoW, and once you got to level 60, it just seemed everyone was lame. Everywhere I went, it was just raiding guilds who had no other lives and wanted you to be there all the time to raid. And then you had to listen to them on Vent.

I played WoW to discover cool new zones, take in the scenery, and get some cool spells. But when you reach level 60, it all stops. And even worse, the only things people ever do at level 60 are stay in the same raid group for months and months on end, doing the same dungeon over and over, in hopes that they'll advance high enough in the raid that they'll be next in line to get some item that adds +1 to their agility.

I stopped the subscription on my account a few months ago. I just never played anymore. I actually replaced it with a Gametap subscription after trying a free trial, and my girlfriend and I just went through the new Sam and Max this weekend, and last week I went through Deus Ex 2. Gametap gives me enough variety and new games to explore. If one game sucks, I just delete it and forget about it. No harm done.

I never hit 60 for exactly that reason. Everybody warned me about raiding before I even installed the game. Every time I start getting up there, I just say it's time for another toon.

Well some friends of ours got her into Neverwinter Nights (that's about all that will play on her G3 iBook). She got hooked. After 14 years of marriage, I now have a genuine gamer chick on my hands. She's gone loco. She went to the Apple store about an hour ago to buy a MacBook Pro, all the NWN expansion packs, and WoW.

(Countdown to Blizzcon and the Succubus costume...)
It'll get worse: NWN2 plays great on boot Camp Windows XP.

BTW, gamebanshee.com is the best Neverwinter game site. Good luck.

Ahaha... I once sat down in the lounge on the boys' floor of my college dorm to play Soul Calibur II on my friend Nate's GC. The kid I was playing against was convinced that he had an easy game because I'm a girl.

Yeah...I kicked his ass. And laughed at him after.
