Hi all,
Seems new egg is selling 2GB ram sticks for mac pro at 119$.
That seems incredibly cheap compared to Crucial and was wondering if this ram is as good, meaning not running hotter causing machine to be louder, and errors or being faulty. Ram errors are hard to diagnose. Also it seems if you look in the apple products guide Transcend is listed there but this specific product is not. Anybody experience ram from them?

The thing about the Mac Pros is that it's highly recommended you get RAM with oversized heat sinks like what OWC or Crucial sells. Other RAM will meet the specs but lack the special heat sinks, which can cause problems.

Thanks! I was also tempted by transcend's $195 4GB ram module. 8 Gig for 390$ sounds very tempting, but I think I will go with what you recommend. Placing Cruicial order for 2x2GB now. Thanks for your help. I've ordered from crucial in the past with macbook pros and macbooks and never had any issues.

I bought 8 gigs of the Transcend ram from them a few weeks ago. So far so good. And they have the large heat sink on them so I'm not sure what Big Mac is meaning.

There were deficient Transcend DIMMs reported. Perhaps yours are fine.

just added 4 Gb from OWC - sweet price compare to what I paid for 1Gb from Apple year ago.
8Gb in Leopard is really good amount of RAM.
