Hello everyone, I'm really new to this forum, but I usually browse it for Mac queries.

I have a problem with my iMac G5 today, and was wondering if anyone knew what the problem means.

I switched the Mac on, like any other day, but the interface seems to be really messed up

It works pefrectly... but these weird lines surround everything..

It looks like this -

ANY help would be greatly appreciated!! I love and look after my Mac and I hope this isn't anything serious!!

I have some bad news, Rhombus. . . looks like your GPU is dying. Sorry about that.

Try resetting the PRAM.

That's the GPU. It's new logic board time I'm afraid.

A new Mac mini would be a better idea and possibly cheaper too.

Hate to be the confirmer of bad news, but that's definitely a problem with the GPU that can't be fixed. It will have to be replaced, which means new motherboard or machine. Sorry.

And moonmonkey has a good suggestion - a mac mini probably would be cheaper than the repair job on that machine.
