i'm looking for a combo CDRW/DVD drive for my G4 that won't require me to use hacked drivers. All the drives I can find listed at xlr8yourmac seem to require hacked drivers, and I remember reading somewhere that you can't hack drivers in Panther, at least not like you can now, so I'd like something that's gonna work without futzing around.

I've used 3 of those types of drives.

My current one is a LG 32x10x40 and a 16x DVD. It works flawlessly with both disc burning in the finder and iTunes. Toast recognizes it no problems as well. I've also had a Toshiba and that was a good drive as well...but I'd recommend you stay as far away from the Samsung ones as possible, my first one was a Samsung and I had to get it replaced 3 times by the company.
