I've been living on a 4-year old 1.67 MHz G4 Powerbook and a new MacBook Pro with 4gb of RAM and that extra Nvidia chip is on its way.
In the last year my son and I had good fun with C&C Generals/Zero Hour (I drove; he watched).
What RTS has got the most fun and best graphics for a new MBP?
What FPS (which I won't do with the kid!)
Among RTS titles....
Should I just wait for Starcraft 2?
Go for Tiberium wars now?
What about SimCity?
Or FPS's, which I won't do with my youngster...
thanks-

I'm sure WC3 and The Frozen Throne and pretty cheap at this point, as far as RTSs go; obviously you'll want SC2 when it comes out (eventually). I haven't played Tiberium Wars, but people say it's a good Cedega-based pseudo-port. Sim City has been a troubled franchise after 2000. You can find 2000 for pseudo-free online. Sim City 4 is said to be good but has a number of bugs that were apparently never fixed. As for FPSs Call of Duty 4 is another great pseudo-port. World of Goo is a very cool game that recently came out.

FPS: Half-life 2
RTS: AOE 3
Unfortunately you'll have to boot Windows for both.

My favorite games right now are FPS and RTS.
If you don't mind booting to Windows using Bootcamp, you'll have a lot more choices.
Company of Heroes and the Warhammer series are pretty good RTS games. You can download demos for those games and play with it to see if you like it.

If you're gonna do the Windows thing, be sure to pick up the Orange Box. Comes with Half-Life 2, HL2 Episodes 1 and 2, Team Fortress 2, and Portal.
I got GTA IV for Christmas, and it's got me completely hooked. SecuROM aside, it's a fun game that runs fine on the new MBP.

ohhh all this talk of the new fps games... I look forward to next year when the missus said (only last night!) that I could replace the G5 with an Intel Mac. Maybe for Christmas! WooHOO I can rejoin the Mac world again!! But I'd have to think long and hard about running Winblows on it...
