Was wondering, if the new Powerbooks come out at the ParisExpo, do you all think the price will go up or down? Not fluctuate at all, perhaps? Are prices differences ever stated at the same time new hardware/updates are? Just want to know if there is anyway to know, and if so, when. Thanks.

I doubt they'll get cheaper.
Just my 2 cents.

I would hope they stay the same or go down, even if it's slightly. Going up would suck (as I plan to buy one in early October ). Ah well.
What's the trend been like for stuff like this in the past? :O

Um.. based upon some notes at apple history.com, and with a 15" superdrive PB.. here's how the prices go (most recent release working backwards):
12"PB ComboDrive
31/01/05 - $1,499
??/04/04 - $1,599
??/09/03 - $1,799
??/01/03 - $1,799
12"PB SuperDrive
31/01/05 - $1,699
??/04/04 - $1,799
??/09/03 - $1,999
??/01/03 - $1,999
15"PB ComboDrive
31/01/05 - $1,999
??/04/04 - $1,999
??/09/03 - $1,999
15"PB SuperDrive
31/01/05 - $2,299
??/04/04 - $2,499
??/09/03 - $2,599
17"PB ComboDrive
31/01/05 - $2,699
??/04/04 - $2,799
??/09/03 - $2,799
??/01/02 - $3,299
??/11/02 - $2,999
So yeah.. logic woud dictate that the next revision of PB's would be cheaper... but ultimately we'll just have to wait and see

Not only logic, but also the fact that the Powerbook hardly deserves its name now. Yeah, I know, there is Mac OS X and all the bundled Apple goodies, but there is a reason the prices decline continuously. I guesss if the high end Powerbook could compete in performance with the high end PC laptops (as was once the case), then Apple would not lowered at all the price for much longer. You do remember the prices of the G3 Powerbooks and for how long they were like that. Now guess what, the G3 Powerbook were at their time top performers.
