I've checked my cables, and that's not the problem. It's a g5 on a cat-5e cable, and another g5 on an old Cat-5 cable. The other G5 is working at 1000mbps, but my g5 will only connect at 100, not 1000. There is no link at all. I've tried forcing the card at 1000, no luck. Any ideas?

Try another cable or rather, swap the cables between the two.

Well, for the sake of simplification, let's forget everything that's behind the GigE switch. I have two g5's, both hooked up to a brand new SMC gigabit switch. I have two cables, my dad's g5 is hooked up via an old cat-5 (old as in it's at least a few years old) and my g5 which is via a new cat-5e. I've tried on multiple ports on the switch, multiple cables on my machine. The problem is still the same- his g5 operates on a GigE connection, mine refuses to make a connection at all. The cables should be x-over cables, but should it matter with autosensing equipment? I've even tried my machine with the cable that HIS machine works on, no luck.
