ever since i installed 10.6.1 i 've noticed that every time an application unexpectedly quits - all apple apps, some third party - it sends a report back to apple.

is there a way to turn this off? i've looked and can't find anything.

any ideas?

What indication do you have that a report is being sent? What exactly is happening?

10.6 throws up the crash report screen everytime a process crashes, with the "report" button pulsing. That's pretty clear.

the first time, I believe it asked me. I don't know where to turn it off.

But it doesn't send the report unless you tell it to.

i'm afraid it does, hre's the txt from the window that pops up

'(application) quit unexpectedly'

[beneath that is a text box for comments and below that are three buttons: 'show details' 'ok' 'reopen']

What makes this a problem? I think it is good that Apple is automating the reporting process, that way every crash can be analyzed and hopefully the problem will be fixed all the quicker. Since you have to click on reopen anyway, and the report is sent with no effort on your part, it seems to me that Apple is doing both us and them a big favor in terms of user satisfaction, the sooner bugs are squashed, the happier we are. What is the harm?
