As you wish
Recently Comcast sent me an email saying that my connection was getting bumped up to 25Mbps. In reality it seems as fast as it always was. I've gotten high 20s with a 16Mpbs connection.
BTW, my ping has gotten nothing but better over the years.

You'd expect a college town (almost 17k students) to have better and cheaper internet. This is about as good as it gets and a guarantee I pay the same as most of you with quadruple the speed.

The reason why I suggested doing the test is because NYC is where the edge router is for all of Comcats' New England customers is:

I'm curious to know the size of this "***.newyork.ny.ibone.comcast.net connection. Obviously it's some kind of multipart cable that runs down to NYC. Would this be an OC-48 or similar?

U-Verse, 18/1.5.
The thing I love about it is that it never changes. F**k Comcast. Only thing better would be Verizon.

Just got a new iPhone 4. Stupid iPhone 3G has some sort of upload cap bug with the AT&T towers.
iPhone 4 doesn't have the upload cap bug.

After 18 months, Mediacom finally realized that I was still paying $20/month for 8 megabit internet (download speeds were 1.3MB/sec) and they told me they were going to up my bill to the normal $65/month. They offered to downgrade me to a 1.5mb connection for $45/month. I talked them down to $35/month. I'm shopping around for a new subscriber offer on another provider, but it seems everyone else wants me to get phone service or cable, neither of which I want.
Here's 1.5mpbs speed-

There’s currently a guy downstairs in our server room, talking to another guy somewhere out in town, trying to get the optic fibre we’ve just had installed into the building this morning to get all the way to the hub at KUA where we’re going to get the Internet connection from.
This thread should be interesting for me in about a week or so, when everything is (hopefully, fingers crossed) up and running.

This is the best I can do in the eastern Dominican Republic. Costs about US$120/mo.
I'm certain they have the technology to offer better service. WiMAX supports speeds much greater than this.

If you live in Chattanooga, Tennessee, they offer municipal fiber. You can get a 1Gb/1Gb for $350/month. From there they also have 100Mb/100Mb line for $140/month, and a 50Mb/50Mb for $70/month.
They attempted to do this in a suburb in New York, but New York state has a no compete clause with private industries. So after being offered a similar deal above, Comcast and AT&T sued (and won) and continue to screw everyone over.

Obviously a hell of a lot lower, but still definitely usable, I’d say:
Chicago, Illinois
Whitehorse, Yukon
Honolulu, Hawai‘i
Auckland, New Zealand (Vodafone server)
Tokyo, Japan
Changchun, (Northern) China
(How much do the fibre users in the States here get to Europe? About the same?)

HKD$199 per month (USD$25.60), it is supposed to be a 1000M FTTH connection locally with overseas capped at 20M up/down.

I live is a really old building, which is why I was stuck with a 6M connection before, but now they have run fiber into the building I grabbed one of the few 1000M they had on offer in hope they it may get better in the future at least. (They usually offer 100M FTTH in most cases, which is only USD$4 cheaper than what im paying for this 1000M)

I thought it would be interesting to see my long-haul speeds...
Downloads are slower by about 1.5Mbps, upload is just a touch slower than my usual 650-ish kbps.
