Does anyone seen a beautiful alternative icon for KDX or are willing to make one? Actually I think the existing icon is very ugly and a little to large. This app diserves a more nice looking icon! Any ideas?

Rotate it 90 CCW to see why it looks the way it does (it spells "K-D-X" abstractly). The dev thought it looked better rotated with the black part on top, much to my disappointment, as I designed the icon (the orignal flat variety, not that chromed-up abortion).

Interesting with the rotation idea! But a little to abstrakt in my opinion. However, I think the icon is ugly anyway. The colours are ok, but the icons should be more simple and clean I think. Why not design a new one? ;-)

Look at www.wincustomize.com in the Dock section. Search for KDX or Haxial. It's quite nice, I think.

Hiya...I'm the guilty party.

I agree...I think the slap-dash chromey look is lame. At the time, it looked fine to me, but I was just whipping out a quick OS X version for myself, which I later offered to Haxial Guy.

Later, I came to my senses, and tried again, this time in 3D (I had just gotten Carrara, and needed a test subject).

I offered it to Haxial Guy, but he was happy with the old version, so that's that.

It's good to meet the original artist...sorry I biffed your work...it sucks to see your creation taken in a direction you don't like.

FWIW, I don't find my icon "attractive" per se either; it's not my normal style at all. I was simply attempting to create something that was thematically in keeping with the KDX UI (extrapolate from that what you will )

Hey Forrest, nice to meecha
No worries..by the time he started using that version, I wasn't really involved with KDX anymore. I'm glad at least my work lives on, albeit in distorted form

Why does the PNG not work for you ? Use Iconverter to make it into an .icns and then import it to Pixadex and voil: you can now export it to a MacOS X ICON !

Maybe the orginal author does not want it to be converted - that's a whole other matter.

Here's a version that has the original 16's and 32's, for a cleaner look at smaller sizes...
