Is it a "feature" to not use X's built in ipfw for the firewall? What are the pros and cons uf using a third party solution?

As I understand it, Firewalk can be made to use ipfw for most things. What it can't use ipfw for is the application-based firewall settings, because ipfw wasn't made to handle that kind of ruleset.

A shame, too; the app-based firewall settings are actually a good idea. The best way would be a hybrid approach, which can be done, but it currently requires two apps (as with FireWalk).
You are in Soviet Russia. It is dark. Grue is likely to be eaten by YOU!

I currently use BrickHouse which uses ipfw, but I really really REALLY like the real time monitoring of Firewalk. Would you suggest that I remove my ipfw rules and go solely with Firewalk's implementation, or keep my current ipfw rules and just "add" Firewalk?
