I have an Apple Xserve with a 3.5tb XRAID unit. I bought 3 Lacie 500gb external firewire Big Drives to backup some of the sites that I run from the server. I can't get the drives to show up on OSX Server, under /Volumes or in the diskutil. running 'mount' shows nothing regarding the drives either. Is there something special I have to do on an xserve besides just plugging the drive in?

Nevermind, I found the problem. I have the machine locked (with the allen key) and in that mode it won't accept external devices.
