I can get a 4 GB black ipod nano for $100 or a 60 GB ipod photo for $200. Both brand new. What would you guys go with?

Only you can answer that.
1) Is the size of the unit the most important
2) Is the storage the most important and playing images on your TV.

"That's okay, I'd like to keep it on manual control for a while."

For a $100 iPod I would definitely get the warranty with it.

For $50 more than a 4gb nano and $100 less than a 60gb iPod you should "put your hands together"

Simple solution to this. Answer two questions:
1. is your music collection 3.7 GB or less?
2. do you intend to listen often while exercising?
If the answer to either or both is "yes," get a nano. If "no," get a 60 GB iPod.
