I've been taking a lot of "everyday" pictures ever since I picked up my new lens, so the wife had the opportunity to commandeer the camera last night at took this shot:

50mm f/1.2L.

It hasn't come off the camera once. My goal is the 5D Mark II, 50mm, 135mm, and 17-40mm...then I'm getting absolutely no new equipment for five years or so (except for CF cards and such).

Excuse me while I go and drool a bit.
(At your goal equipment, that is. You’re cute enough, but—sorry—not quite as salivary gland-activating as that lineup. Hubba-hubba!)

That's my all-time fav portraiat lens. Worth every penny, nickel, dime, and quarter!

I rented the 135mm for three weddings I did last November, and absolutely fell in love. I had used the 70-200 f/2.8L at my first wedding, and hated the thing. I just wanted a long lens, the 50mm "standard," and a wide angle just because I do want to shoot a landscape from time to time.

In my short experience with it, abso-frickin'-lutely. I love the thing. I still haven't told my family how much it set me back (the wife is the only one that knows). I can't wait to use it on a full-frame.

You wear gloves at 50°? Wuss.

(It’s about 37°–40° here at the moment, and I’ve stopped wearing gloves—too hot.)

Really cool shot, Ice.

Awesome location (as usual). You lucky jerk. I can't believe it's that cold down there, though.

Currently 36, but 81 by Friday.

I went out this morning wearing shorts and a t-shirt, which I have to admit was perhaps a bit optimistic.

Yes, that would be me.

[EDIT] Although, I must confess that I tanned last month, and now look like like a slightly less-translucent Irishman.

Not really, no. For some reason, I don’t tan, but I don’t burn, either. My skin just sort of ignores the existence of the Sun, making me perpetually pasty-white.

Granted, I’ve never actually been to Florida; but I’d expect Greece or Italy should have more or less the same effect, no?

That’s probably because it isn’t.

I guess you are in teh EU.
That I am, yes.

Norway isn’t, though, and they’re just as pasty-white as I am, so I don’t think it’s really a valid inference.

Also, since we finally hit page 11, it's a relief not to see my kissing face every time I open this thread. Although I'm still not 100% sure that the new first picture is an improvement... I keed!

User settings strike again. I just started on page 14 seven posts ago, and there aren’t any pictures on the page yet for me.
